Principal's Corner
My name is Cari Wilson, and I am proud to be the principal of R. L. Young Elementary! My husband, Van, and I have three children: Mary, Isaac, and Kata. They all attended R. L. Young and loved their time here. We enjoy music, archery, and spending time outdoors.
I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelors and masters degree in Elementary Education, then I taught at Coldwater Elementary School for two years before coming to R. L. Young as a Kindergarten teacher. I later received National Board Certification in Early Childhood, then renewed that certification in 2014. After seven years of teaching kindergarten, I began teaching fourth grade, where I stayed for 16 years. In 2019, I earned a graduate certificate in Instructional Leadership for Administration from Auburn University. I enjoy working with students, parents, and teachers as a team to make a positive impact on student learning.
